20% or 80% you are looking for?

An article I have received and thought it is really true. We have always chased for the 20% missing items and never content with the 80% we have. Eventually we gain the 20% but actually we lost the 80% we have.

Quote:

A very valuable lesson to learn ...Interesting quote from the movie 'Why did I get married?' In most cases, especially in relationships, you will only get 80% of what you NEED and you will hardly get the other 20% that you WANT in your relationship.

There is always another person (man or women) that you will meet and that will offer you the other 20% which is lacking in your relationship that you WANT And believe me, 20% looks really good when you are not getting it at all in your current relationship. But the problem is that you will always be tempted to leave that good 80% that you know you have, thinking that you will get something better with the other 20% that you WANT. But as reality has proven, in most cases, you will always end up with having the 20% that you WANT and loosing the 80% that you really NEED and that you already had.

Be careful in deciding between what you WANT and NEED in your life. Adultery happens when you start looking for what you don't have.

'Wow, this girl in my office is a real looker. But it's not her Wynona Rider features that got me. I'm crazy about her because she's also understanding, intelligent, tender - so many things that my spouse is not. Somewhere along the way, you'll find a woman or a man who will be more charming or sensitive. More alluring. More thoughtful. Richer. Have greater sex appeal. And you will find a woman or man who will need you and pursue you and go loco over you more than your spouse ever did. Because no wife or husband is perfect. Because a spouse will only have 80% of what you're looking for. So adultery takes place when a husband or wife looks for the missing 20%.

Let's say your wife is melancholicby nature. You may find yourself drawn to the pretty clerk who has a cherry laugh no matter what she says: 'I broke my arm yesterday, Hahahaha . . ..' Or because your wife is a home body in slippers and pajamas, smelling of garlic and fish oil, you may fall for a fresh-smelling young sales representative that visits your office in a sharp black blazer, highheels, and a red pencil-cut skirt. Or because your husband is the quiet type, your heart may skip a beat when you meet an old college flame who has the makings of a talk show host. But wait! That's only 20% of what you don't have. Don't throw away the 80% that you already have! That's not all. Add to your spouse's 80% the 100% that represents all the years that you have been with each other. The storms you have weathered together. The unforgettable moments of sadness and joy as a couple. The many adjustments you have made to love the other. The wealth of memories that you've accumulated as lovers. Adultery happens when you start looking for what you don't have. But faithfulness happens when you start thanking God for what you already have. But I'm not just talking about marriage. I'm talking about life! About your jobs. About your friends. About your children. About your lifestyles. Are you like the economy airline passenger that perennially peeks through the door of the first class cabin, obsessed with what he's missing? 'They have got more leg room! Oh my, their food is served in porcelain! Wow, their seats recline at an 80% angle and they've got personal videos! 'I guarantee you'll be miserable for the entire trip! Don't live yourlife like that. Forget about what the world says is first class. Do you know that there are many first class passengers who are miserablein first class -- because they are not riding in a private Lear Jet? The main message??? If you start appreciating what you have right now, wherever you are,you are first class! Unquote

pen vs computer - which one do you choose

Interviews...interviews...I have attended three job interviews for the past two weeks. I am always exhausted after each interviews, not because of the travelling time or the preparation time, rather it is the same answers for the same questions asked by each interviewers.

Usually the questions would be "why do you want to leave", "tell me your job scope", "what is your strenght and weakness", etc. There was one interview that asked me to fill up an application form where all the answer could be found in my resume and I do not like it.

I guess after having using the keyboard to type letters for so many years, I am kind of lazy or lack of patient to use a pen to write anymore. I read an article some times ago that said people have slowly forgot how to use a pen to write because we have been unkowningly depending the computer keyboard to replace the pen to write. The article said that there is no longer human touch or feeling in our writing. Well...I do agree with it and guilty with it. I am one of them who do not like to use pen to write. I remember I hate to write the three pages of essay during my exam, my hand will aching after half way thru the writing and my words will get bigger and ugly. Sometimes, I could not even figure out what I am writing. I wish the school will let me bring in my laptop and type, and print it. In fact, I find that it help the markers in their marking. She or he need not have to try to figure out what is the student trying to write or tell. Some times, I wonder whether the marker could figure out what the student is trying to write. How would they allocate mark if they could not figure out the handwriting? I wonder. Nevertheless, I do agree that computer could not always bring out the joy, sad or angry that our handwriting could tell.

A journey in the bus

A journey in the bus to work in the morning can be quite interesting to watch how people behavior themselves in the enclosed cubit.

There was a lady aboard the bus. She has a child in her arm with a maid holding on another child’s hand. She was standing near the window where there was a space for people to stand in the bus. A few seats beside her but all were occupied and no one gave up their seat to this lady.

Interestingly, the few seats which were occupied were meant for needy people and the occupier were healthy working people, at least they are strong to stand in the bus, with one exceptional, an old lady. Yet nobody gave up their seat to this lady. I guess these must be the thought that went thru their head.

"Should I give up my seat?"

"Someone will give up their seat to her."

"Pretend I did not see her."

"Quick, close my eyes and pretend sleeping."

“Too bad, you are too late”

“Sorry, I want to sit down”

Eventually someone gave up her seat for her. That person was not sitting on the needy seats, or sitting near to the lady. She was carrying a laptop havesack, a paper bag and a handbag; both hands are full and called her to take over her seat.

Guess who gave up the seat? Who could it be but ME!

Irresponsible man at the bus stop

I reached the bus stop this morning wanted to catch a bus to work, suddenly this weird man talking to me.

Man: you free to bring this handbag to the police station. I am not free and need to rush to work. If you pass by the police station could you bring it to the station. I am not free and need to rush to work (he repeated it again and again to me)

Me: Huh???? Er??? (You can image my sotong face thinking what this man doing)

Then I realised an old lady (the man pointed to an old lady standing opposite him) picked up this lady's handbag from the bus stop and passed it to this man. Because both are "too busy" to bring the handbag to the police station and are rushing to somewhere, this man is trying to pass the handbag to me to do something. So, could you see the merry-go-round situation at the bus stop.

The man kept repeating this sentence " I am not free. I need to rush to work. Can you bring it to the police station." In my heart, I was thinking I am also rushing to work, furthermore I am late for work, and you just passed the bag to me and you board the bus to work. What an unhelpful and irresponsible man. He just threw his responsibilities to me and expected me to do something. I was so angry with his action and irresponsible behaviour!

I searched through the bag for any contact number to contact the owner. There are thousand of important documents and cards inside the handbag and the owner must be panic right now. How could she has left her handbag at the bus stop. It was so silly of her. Anyway, after managed to contact her, I realised that the handbag was actually dropped off from her car after she alighted her son.

I still could not forget that irresponsible man at the bus stop who just simply throw the bag into my care and himself board the bus and go.

Life…what is it?

Weekends

The sun burning hot

Cloudless sky

Not expect any rain

Little breeze cooling the heat

Me

Sitting inside the coffee house

Enjoying the cup of coffee and delicious chocolate cake

Watching thru the glass

Parents holding their children and their bags walking toward the centre

Children walking and running to catch up the adult’s steps

Preparing their children to know more than their classmates

Preparing their children to be on top of the class

Preparing their children to have a bright future

Preparing…is their life

Old folks struggle to get down from the bus

The steps were too high and their legs were weak

The walking stick guide and protect them thru each little steps they took

The wrinkle on their face tells a lot of stories in their life

History…is their life

Men and Women

Their steps were fast and big

Chasing for the career ladders

Chasing for the wealth

No time to slow down

No time to talk

No time to know what happen around them

No time…is their life

Inside the glass

Students buried in their assignment

Chasing for the piece of education paper

That will bring them to the next higher level of education

That will secure their future with no worry about money

Chasing…is their life

Men and Women

Occupied in their own world

“Don’t disturb me” … is their signboard

Leave me alone…is their life

My coffee and chocolate cake

Slowly and enjoying it

Life…what is it?

the poor and the rich

The recent kidney trading has created quite hot topics between the government and the people on the street. Should we legalize organ trading?

I personally do not agree to organ trading.

One person has two eyes, two ears, two arms, two legs, two kidneys, one liver, one heart, one brain, one nose; in fact, every part of our body is a part of an organ business.

I could not image the day where there is this place set up selling different parts of the organs. Different sections set up to sell different part of the organs and you see queue waiting for either to buy or to sell their organs.

I could not image the day where one person’s professional career is trading organs.

I could not image the day where every one starting queuing at the hospital to sell their organ because they need money.

I could not image people will be force to sell their organ because their family needs to live.

I could not image people start buying organs because they did not take care of their health in the first place and now they want to live longer.

Now, back to the fundamental reason why do people is selling their organs?

MONEY IS THE ISSUE!

In a trade, there is always a buyer and a seller, a demand and a supply. From the recent case, I saw two different persons, the buyer and the seller.

The buyer is a rich man that

has the money to buy anything he wants

has the money to live luxury

has the money to eat shark fin and bird nests

has the money to prolong his life but…

does not have the life to live longer and enjoy his wealth

The seller is a poor man that

has the good health to work

has the good health to live

has the good health to trade

does not have the money to live comfortably

Interestingly, one has money but does not has life, one has life but does not has money.

Which man will I choose to be?

Life and money…both are important…but I only can choose one.

Without life I won’t be able to enjoy my fruit

Without money I still can work and earn to enjoy the simple life I have.

I will choose life!

ways to store my ear rings

i didn't wear ear rings till three years ago, it has never occured to me that wearing ear rings actually is a good way to beauty our look and dressing. i began to love and also buy ear rings and has since bought quite a few and the collection is still going. but i realise that i have problem storing my ear rings, i threw it in a recycle body shop container and you can see that it is quite messy, especially tanggling ear rings that will entangle with each others.

this is handling on the candle, i am not sure whether it is a good ideas as i am afraid the tip of the ear rings will be cover with wax.

this is a different way to store the ear rings, it is hang on a piece of fabric, which i thought it is quite nice.

i like this ideas, this is using the photo frame and you take out the back of the frame replaced it with a fabric. you can hang the photo frame and it become as part of the picture hanging on the wall.

My Curly Hair

A: you perm your hair?
me: no lah, is my natural curly hair.
A: good leh, don't need to perm, save money.
me: hmmm... I dont perm my hair. the curl is too messy and I cannot manage it.

you see, i have natural curly hair and i find it hard to manage. it is that type of big curl and it curl like nobody business, especially after a hair wash, the curl is more obvious. there are days i cannot manage my hair and i have to tie it up. my hair is short and little, so it looks weird when i tie up my hair.

i try to blow my hair straight after each wash, but it is that kind of right hand versus left hand issues. i got my left side of the hair straight but not the right side of my hair cos i am a right hand person and i hold my dryer on my right hand with a comb at my left hand, so the coordination is kind of out for my right side hair. anyway, if it sound confuse to you. the end resulf after blowing my hair is my left side look straight but not my right side hair....got it? still confuse?

my hair, my hair, should i rebond it again? headache!

Ear Candling - is it safe?

Sometimes ago, my colleagues went for ear candling at a beauty salon situated at my office down stair. After the session, my colleagues claimed that their ear is much clean than before and the salon staff has even showed them the dark debris which was the dirt inside their ear. I was almost convinced by my colleagues to try it. Fortunately I did not do it.

Ear candling is actually not recommended by doctor. In fact, there was no scientific proof to support claims that ear candling provides medical benefits.

Ear candling is done by lighting one end of a hollow candle and placing the other end in the ear canal. The smoke that flows through the ear canal is supposed to create suction that will help remove the wax and dirt in the ear. However research said that the suction power from the candle is not possible to suct the wax. Since wax is sticky, the pressure needed to pull wax from the canal would have to be so powerful that it would rupture the eardrum in the process and candling procduce no vaccum, so how does it work?

The layer of wax has a protective role, it cleans and lubricates the ear and protect the ear canal from bacteria and fungus. The ear has a self-cleaning system that naturally removes ear wax, and actually most people do not require additional cleaning. The doctor said that ear candling could actually lead to complications like ear infections or compressed ear wax and when ear wax becomes compressed, it could lead to a blocked ear. Instead the doctor suggested to use over-the-counter ear drops which will make ear wax soft and allow it to flow out on its own.

The next time before we try anything new, it is good to do some research and the best is to wait and look for any review. It is never too late to try but it will be too late if anything negative happen.

My favourite cartoon show

I remember that when I was young, I love to watch Sesame Street. I never miss the show and I always sing along with them. In the show there are many characters, like Big Bird, an 8ft 2-inch tall yellow bird who lives in a large nest on an abandoned lot and Big Bird has a good friend named Aloysius Snuffleupqgus, who is a very large, brown creature, which looks very much like the prehistoric wooly mammoth, and is known more popularly by his nickname "Snuffy".

Then there is the Cookie Monster, "Me want cookie!", "Me eat cookie!", and "Omm, nom, nom, nom" (said through a mouthful of food).

The furry red monster with googly eyes and an orange nose, is the Elmo! I have one of it in my home.

"AH AH AH AH AH!" as thunder roared overhead and lightning flashed, and as the total of the number appeared on screen. That is the Count von Count.

Oscar, the Grouch lives in a garbage can. He is always grumpy, and loves everything that other people hate.

Not forgetting Kermit the Frog's, the famous puppet and also Miss Piggy.

I found this website and thought it is interesting to play with it. Back to the childhood time. Click here to view the video

Lazzzzzzzzzz...

Recent weeks, I felt that I am super lazy. Went straight home after work, took my dinner, watched TV and went to sleep when time is up to go to bed. It went on for a few weeks, and I felt I am super lazy...like a pig (this remind me of my colleague always said she is a pig, cos she eat and sleep...hahaha...).
Wake up! wake up! I think I am wasting my time, doing nothing.
Need to start doing exercise which I have stopped for the last few weeks because I am lazy.
Need to start getting my brain to work again which I have also kind of stopped for the last few weeks.
But.
Somtimes, it is just good to be lazy and lays around doing nothing : )
But.
Cannot be too long, or else I am behaving like a old woman cos my movement start to go slow.

there is this note book on my dinner table, was given by my boss last Christmas and the front cover said

If you seek God

you will know Him,

If you know God,

you will love Him,

If you love God,

you will obey Him,

the words said so much of what i had went through the hard time and I guess through the hard time, I got closer to Him and love Him more, but...but till now, I am still not obeying Him in some ways. it sound weird, i know it. it is not easy to be a child of God, especially with the many temptations around me and the many times I am trying to rational why this and not that, why i can't, why i have to...the lists go on. whatever it is...sometime i fear and sometime i know that i should obey Him. life is so complicated, i thought.

I am in the oven...HOT!

Hot! Hot!, the weather was super hot this few weeks!

The temperatures have hit a scorching 34 deg C and according to Naitonal Environment Agency (NEA) that the heat is not likely to let up until well into next week when light winds many provide some relief.

May is traditionally the second hottest month of the year, with average temperature falling between 24.7 deg C and 31.6 deg C, but I hope it did not hit 35.4deg C which happend in May 2005.

My house's fan is on high power the whole day, which translated my PUB bill is going to be very expensive for this month. Add on it there is also the water bill, cos I drank a lot of water.

The worst news I read in the newspaper...many hot spots have popped up and forest and land fires are starting now which mean haze are coming and if the wind direction changes to the north, the haze will be blown towards Singapore, which translated the weather is going to be super HOT! Oh dear.

So much suffering, so little help

My heart goes to Myanmar whenever I read the news how the people had suffered and was suffering. Since the Cyclone Nargis struck on May 3, there are so little help we can do. Many relief teams and volunteers are not able to reach the people, many donation are stuck at some where or no where. In addition, behind the scenes, there are too many politics issues on it that add on the suffering of the people.

Read in the The Straits Time today that at least 130,000 dead or missing and between 1.6 million and 2.5 million homeless. My heart was so painful when I read it. The people of Myanmar has suffered a lot and life has not been improved for some or most of them, I will say it, in fact it has gone worst after the Cyclone Nargis.

Sometimes, I just wondering how long Myanmar is going to be in such situation. I think it will takes years, in fact I will say countless years and generations to improve the living standard of the people and the country.

Out of sudden, I thank God that I am living in Singapore!

Got a bite from the mosquito and now I am down with dengue fever : ( I am resting at home, drinking lot of water and also sleep a lot (never been drinking so much water and sleeping for so long) My body is aching, bone is painful and I am fevery, yet the doctor said I do not have fever. I need to visit the clinic everyday to draw my blood for blood count testing. This is to make sure that the blood count did not drop down to 90. Right now, there are three needle holes in my left arm. I wonder how many time I need to draw my blood : (

My few days old little niece...

Sunday, March 16, 2008

As we grow old (ya, i mean OLD in age) and often when you look yourself into your mirror, you are so afraid that your face will look old and when you touch that face muscle it is loose. Was told that facial massage help to tighten that muscle and help to look young. Came across this in the YouTube and have been trying it diligently and hope that I could delay the aging process. Will it work? Well, I guess times will tell. But it is always good to try then never : )

Choose to be happy

An article title "Choose to be happy" in the The Straits Time, Recuit, strike my eyes when I was flipping the newspaper at my office's interaction area this morning.

The article talked about what makes people happy. The writer quoted three areas that make people happy. First is to have a purpose, which means doing something in your life that has meaning for you. Second is to have hope to look forward to, even if your current circumstances are difficult. Last but not least, having someone to love. The writer also wrote that happiness is no accident, it is something we choose.

I agree that happiness is no accident, it is really something we choose what we want. If we choose to be happy we are happy, but if we choose to be sad or angry, then we are what we choose to be. Happy is also something that you need an effort to do it and let it happen and not something you leave it to happen. It will not happen by itself. Every morning before leaving for work, I look at the mirror and told myself that I want and I am going to be happy today, never let any things affect my mode or attitude that I will be sad or angry. This has worked for me and it help me to start the day with the right attitude and happiness. I thank God for another day I can breath, I can see the creation He has created and another chance I can pray to Him again.

The writer mentioned further that "Happy people make a decision to happy in spite of their problems. They concentrate on what they have and not on what is missing. They count their blessings. They take maximum responsibility for their life and for their mistakes. They don't balme others."

I know that there are people who blame others for their unhappy, but I think they failed to realise that it is themselve who fail themselve and not others.
